Acupuncture: Leah (Shilmover) Karpelson
Leah (Shilmover) Karpelson, Lic. Ac., M. Ac., Dipl. Ac., earned a Master's degree in Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture. Prior to studying acupuncture, Leah earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a focus on Child Development and a minor in accounting.
Throughout Leah’s undergraduate studies, she participated in several research projects on various topics relating to psychology, including cross-cultural counseling, the psychological effects of support systems on depression, and women’s health.
Leah's areas of interest include helping those dealing with depression and anxiety, particularly panic disorder. At the New England School of Acupuncture, Leah also focused on acupuncture for fertility, menstrual issues, and pregnancy-related symptomps.
Leah’s extensive clinical experience at the New England School of Acupuncture student clinic, Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, and the Elder Service Plan of the North Shore included 630 clinical hours, 136 different patients, and 358 treatments administered.
